The molecular formula of sodium cyanide is NaCN. Molecular weight 49.007 g/mol. Melting point 564°C. Boiling point 1469°C. Vapor pressure 0.1kPa (800 °C), easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol.
Sodium cyanide appears as white crystalline solid, block solid or powder. It is hygroscopic and has a faint bitter almond smell. It can be dissolved in water, ammonia, ethanol and methanol.
Sodium cyanide has two forms: liquid and solid. Due to economic and packaging reasons, it is basically solid sodium cyanide at present. Sodium cyanide is dangerous only when it encounters enough water. At a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, 1 kg of water can dissolve about 0.4 kg of solid sodium cyanide.
